ASO agencies in the Philippines · September 2026

ASO agency the Philippines: the back office of half the industry, sold to you as the front.

The Philippines is the outsourcing engine of the English-speaking internet, and app marketing is no exception. Manila and Cebu teams do the keyword research, screenshot production, review responses and reporting for agencies in the US, UK and Australia, at Filipino rates, with Filipino English. When those teams sell ASO directly, you get skilled execution without the decision layer that the foreign agency was supposed to supply. Here is what that means.

Thinking about a Filipino ASO agency? Let me explain what the back office sells.

The Philippines has a specific place in the app marketing industry, and it is worth being honest about it. A large share of the execution that Western agencies bill for happens in Manila, Cebu and Clark: keyword research runs, screenshot and icon production, localisation coordination, review responses, monthly report assembly. The teams are English-fluent, well-trained, reliable and priced by the hour at a fraction of the client-facing rate. The Western agency provides the client relationship and, in theory, the decisions. The Filipino team provides the hands.

When those teams sell ASO directly, which more and more do, the offer is the hands without the decision layer. That is a real, useful thing to buy if you already know what your listing should say. It is a trap if you do not, because the execution will be done well on the wrong brief. A keyword field populated from a tool, competently, with terms your buyer does not search. A screenshot set produced to a template, competently, with a first-frame claim nobody chose. A monthly report, assembled competently, describing movement that does not translate into installs.

The second pattern is the virtual assistant model. A lot of ‘ASO services Philippines’ are VA agencies with an app marketing package: a dedicated assistant, forty hours a week, tasks assigned through a dashboard. It is an honest model for administrative work. Applied to ASO, it produces activity. Forty hours a week of ASO activity on one listing is thirty-eight hours of noise, because the stores respond to a decisive change over weeks and then go quiet, and a full-time assistant has to fill the quiet with something.

The third pattern is the BPO-scale agency with an ‘app marketing’ vertical: hundreds of seats, a services menu that runs from customer support to social media to ASO, and account management built for volume. The specialist depth is thin because the business is breadth. Your listing gets a process that was designed for a call centre.

The fourth is the grey zone, which is present but quieter than in some neighbouring markets. Review-writing services and rating campaigns are offered by some VA shops as a natural extension of ‘review management’. They are the thing the stores police, and the account at risk is yours.

Against that: one consultant who provides the decision layer and nothing else. The teardown that reads your category and your five competitors. The rewrite with one considered claim. The test plan. The handover with dates, and a brief your team, or a Filipino execution team, can run afterward. That is the right use of the market: decisions from one experienced person, execution from wherever is best value, and no agency in between marking up both.

To be fair to the Philippines: if you already have a decision layer, whether that is you, an in-house lead or a consultant, Filipino execution teams are among the best value in the world and I would recommend them for exactly that. If you do not, hiring the hands first means doing the wrong work well. Send me the listing and I will give you the brief. Then hire the hands.

01 — What you will actually find when you search

What the first page of results actually contains
01

The execution team selling direct

The hands behind Western agencies, without the decision layer. Excellent if you already have the brief.

02

The VA agency with an ASO package

Forty hours a week of activity on a listing that needs one decision a month.

03

The BPO-scale services company

Hundreds of seats, a menu from support to social to ASO. A call-centre process for a craft.

04

The digital marketing agency

Manila SEO and social shops with an ASO page and Google instincts.

05

The review-management upsell

‘Review management’ that shades into review writing. The stores police it; you carry the account.

06

The Upwork specialist

Often the best value in the country, and usually the same person as the agency’s delivery team.

Filipino execution is genuine value and I recommend it for the right job. The right job starts after someone has decided what the listing should say. Buying the hands first means paying to do the wrong work well.

03 — Six questions to ask any Filipino ASO agency

Take these to the first call
  1. Who, by name, decides what our title says and what our first screenshot claims? What is their background?
  2. Are you the delivery team for any foreign agency? Which ones, and does our brief come from them or from you?
  3. What will a full-time assistant do in the weeks after a metadata change while the stores respond?
  4. Do you offer review writing or rating campaigns under any name? Put the answer in writing.
  5. Which single-app clients have you taken to a competitive keyword with organic changes only, and who chose the keyword?
  6. If we bring our own brief, what does the price become?

04 — Should you hire an ASO agency in the Philippines?

Five-minute video. No pitch, no sequence. If your ASO is fine, I say so.

Objections

Filipino teams already do the work for Western agencies. Why not hire them directly?+

You should, for execution. The Western agency was supposed to supply the decisions. If you skip the agency, you still need the decisions from somewhere.

A full-time dedicated assistant sounds thorough.+

For a store listing it is thirty-eight hours a week of filling the quiet. The stores respond to a decisive change over weeks. Thoroughness here is one good decision a month.

Can we use a Filipino team after your engagement?+

Yes, and the handover is written so they can run it. That is the right use of the market.

Is review management the same as review writing?+

Responding to real reviews is legitimate and useful. Writing or soliciting fake ones is prohibited by both stores. Ask which one is on the menu.
