ASO agency review · September 2026

Admiral Media review: half a billion in ad spend. Avoid buying ASO from a media desk.

Admiral Media, founded in 2019 by Andre Kempe and run from Spain, has managed more than €500 million in ad spend for over 150 brands and holds partner status with Meta, Google, TikTok, Snapchat and Apple Search Ads. That is a media agency, and a good one. It also sells App Store Optimization. Understand what happens to a small organic service inside a business measured in hundreds of millions of ad dollars.

Thinking about hiring Admiral Media for ASO? Avoid. Let me explain media agency maths.

Gabriel Machuret · September 2026

Admiral Media is a performance marketing agency, and the number that matters on its website is the ad spend: more than half a billion euros managed across 150-plus brands and 35 markets. Partner badges from every major ad platform. A Clutch rating of 5.0. If you need someone to run seven-figure monthly budgets across Meta, TikTok and Apple Search Ads, this is the kind of team you should be looking at. This page is about the other line on their services page, App Store Optimization, and why I would not buy it from them.

Media agencies run on media maths. Revenue is a percentage of spend or a retainer scaled to spend, and the best people, the best tooling and the founders’ attention go where the spend is. An organic service like ASO does not scale with spend. It is a fixed-fee, slow-moving, craft-heavy piece of work that a media desk cannot grow. So at a media agency, ASO exists for a reason that has little to do with your listing: it makes the agency full-funnel, which wins bigger accounts, and it keeps organic from being a reason a client talks to anyone else.

Here is what that means in practice. The ASO on your proposal will be competently scoped and reasonably priced, because it is not where the margin is. Once you sign, the paid team will have daily dashboards, weekly optimisations and a lot to say. The organic work will ship a rewrite, maybe a screenshot test, and then go quiet, because that is how the stores respond to good work. In a combined report, the paid section will be long and the organic section will be a slide. Attention follows movement, and movement is on the paid side by design.

There is a subtler issue. A media agency’s honest advice on organic is shaped by its business. Brand-term bidding ‘protects’ you, which is spend. Paid keyword data ‘informs’ organic strategy, which justifies the campaign. A conversion lift on the store page ‘makes every paid dollar work harder’, which is true and also a reason to increase the paid dollars. None of this is dishonest. It is what a company built on €500 million of spend sounds like when it talks about a service that costs nothing per install.

Compare that with hiring one consultant who manages no media. I have no spend to grow and no partner badges to maintain. I tear the listing down, rewrite it, run one controlled creative test, and hand the whole system over on a date we agree in advance. Reporting is a changelog. What shipped, what it did. No paid section, because there is no paid. The fee is fixed and a fraction of a year’s retainer. When it ends, your team owns the keyword map and the test log, and I will have set up your Search Ads account and shown you how to run it yourself.

In fairness: if you have a real media budget and need it run by a serious, well-connected team, Admiral Media is a strong choice and their scale is a genuine advantage there. If you are here because your organic listing is the problem, buying ASO from a media desk means buying the least important service from a company that knows it. Send me their proposal and I will show you what the organic work costs on its own, with no spend attached.

04Red flags in a media-agency ASO proposal

If you see three, send it to me
  1. ASO priced as a small add-on to a spend-based media fee
  2. Brand-term bidding recommended before organic brand ranking is checked
  3. Organic results reported only inside the paid deck
  4. ‘Paid data informs organic’ used to justify a spend increase
  5. The organic scope described as ‘ongoing support’ with no dated changes
  6. A minimum term matched to the media contract

05What ‘full-funnel performance’ says vs what your listing gets

Three things to translate before you sign
01

€500M+ managed spend

The number that defines the agency. Everything it is good at was built to move that number. Your organic listing does not move it, and the agency knows exactly where its attention pays.

02

Partner of every platform

Real badges, hard to earn, and each one aligns the agency with growing spend on that platform. None of them is a partner badge for the organic App Store.

03

ASO makes paid work harder

True, and the reason a media agency sells it. A better store page lifts paid conversion, which justifies more paid. The organic result is the means; the spend is the end.

Organic serves paid

06Should you avoid Admiral Media?

Honest answer: depends who you are

Avoid if

You want ASO from someone with no stake in your ad spendYour organic budget is under $60k a yearYou do not have, or do not want, a managed media programmeYou want your team to learn the store work and run Search Ads themselves

Hire them if

You have a substantial paid budget that needs expert managementYou want paid and organic reported by one team, and accept the trade-offYou value platform partner relationships at scale

Admiral’s
proposal.

I will separate the organic work from the media lines, tell you what the listing needs on its own, and quote it as a fixed fee with no spend attached. If a media agency is what you need, I will say so.

One reply from Gabriel. Same scope, fixed fee, or an honest ‘sign with them’.

08 — Objections

A big media agency must have the resources to do ASO well.+

It has the resources. It also has a business model that rewards spend, and organic work does not generate any. Resources go where the model says they pay.

Won’t paid and organic together be more efficient?+

For reporting and for the agency, yes. For knowing what your listing change actually did, no. Nothing else moving in the report is the only way to see it.

Can you manage our paid budget?+

No, and I will not pretend to. I do the listing, the keywords, the creative testing and the training. If you need media run at scale, Admiral is a real option.

Is this review biased?+

Yes. I compete for ASO work. That is why the argument is about media-agency economics, not competence, and why I have said clearly who should hire them.
